Damdam: A Comment Filter for Your Own Screen
Damdam is a local Chrome extension prototype for desktop YouTube comments and a LinkedIn-comments beta. It is designed to quietly exclude attack-only comments and make minimal edits where substantive criticism is mixed with hostile wording.
The starting question
Can the substance of criticism remain while hostile expression is reduced?
Approach
A user installs it locally in their own Chrome and connects an OpenRouter key to process a limited set of nearby comments. Ordinary comments and sharp but non-personal criticism are left unchanged; original-text reading is available only through the extension’s reading mode. Comment text is sent to OpenRouter and the selected model provider, with API costs charged to the user’s account. Comments stored by the original site are not changed.
Artifact and current status
The current artifact is a privately installed Chrome extension prototype, v0.1.0. It has not been released in the Chrome Web Store. Its no-key example screen uses prepared examples and is not presented as live AI processing.
Limits and what is not verified
Real paid AI calls, signed-in YouTube and LinkedIn pages, and native extension installation have not been fully verified. AI judgment can wrongly hide content, lose expression, or change meaning, and it should not be assumed to cover every comment or platform.
